KapaHaka is alive and flourishing at Pirongia School with our groups participating in many rich and varied Maori cultural experiences, activities and performances.
The design of the koiri kowhaiwhai above, represents "flourishing" which is why it was chosen to decorate our Maori culture page.
All  our children receive an education rich in our nation's unique Maori cultural heritage. But there are over 40 children who also choose to be involved in extra-curricular Kapahaka activities in the school.

March 25th 2009 - Working with Mrs Hania

Mrs Hania teaches us so much about Maori culture and we have a lot of fun as you can see by our absorbed and happy faces in these photos. Notice that in the spirit of "ako", everyone is learning happily together:

Koru Pastel Drawings by Room 9 - Term 1 2009
In this koru art we were learning to use the values of traditional koru shapes to form our own works of art showing how our families work together. We were also learning how to blend pastels to create texture and contrast in our work
