Kawaka has just returned from three days and two nights in the bush at Camp Kaniwhaniwha. The theme of the camp was "Survival Boot Camp" and children participated in a range of activities with their tribes to build self-reliance, take risks, step outside of their comfort zones and build strong relationships with their peers and teachers. A highlight of the camp was a hike to the summit of our beautiful mountain; a massive achievement for adults and children alike. Other activities included caving, survival challenges, tribal council, cooking around the campfire, scavenger hunt and finishing with an hour solo in the bush. We want to say a massive thank you to the parents and other adults who made the camp such a success and we can't wait to do it again next year (with a few new challenges and surprises of course!).
