Room 17 listened to many stories about how the Matariki constellation came to be. We also spoke about how Matariki helped Maori people know the right time to plant new crops. It was also a time for celebration of new life.
We made a beautiful korowai to represent our learning about Matariki. If you look closely, you will see that we have written many words in Te Reo on our feathers. These are words that relate to Matariki and the celebration that takes lace at this time of year. Some feathers have our names on them, as our korowai also represents all of us. We hope you like it.
